Dreams are the royal road to the unconscious - Sigmund Frued
Out of Place is an image that I made which represented the emotional state of my mind after my move to a new country. The goliath scale of the figure on the left end of the image is a metaphor for my presence in a new place that I was not sure how to interact with. Freud’s notion of a dream was that it is a mechanism of wish-fulfilment. The giant size of the foot, I felt, is a way to compensate with this isolation by giving oneself the stature of superiority in scale, hence fulfling the wish of not feeling out of place.
