The Big 5 in Scandinavian Design
An essential quick-guide to scandinavian design
This book was created as part of my exam for the course; "History of Design," at IED, Milano 2011. The task was free, so I decided to create a new book concept about Scandinavian design. Today you can find a book summery/report of most of the bestsellers - which gives you the basic knowledge without actually reading the whole book. So why not try and cook down the big heavy design books  into a quick and easy reading?

The book is called;"The big 5 in Scandinavian Design," and is a part of a whole series of that name. The name means the 5 biggest designers of Scandinavian design.

The subtitle then states which year the book is about. So: The functional 50's gives you the history and works of five of the biggest and/or most important designers of that period+ different design examples of other Scandinavian designers, divided in pages year by year. (1950, 1951, 1952 etc until 1959.)

The book also gives you background information and effects of the period and the influences that effected the style each of the designers.
This book features; Arne jacobsen, Hans J Wegner, Tapio Wirkkala, Carl-axel Acking and Nanna Ditzel

Other books in the series could then be; “The bright 30’s,” “The Futuristic 60’s,” “The Young 80’s” and “The popular 90’s”
The size of the book is: 130 mm by 180 mm. The thickness of the book is 10 mm

The book is a “dummy” and the pictures are as you see not from the original files but of the dummy itself.
