This solid walnut side table was a labor of love. The walnut was personally sourced from a property in Maryland. I planed the raw timber as minimally as possible in order to retain the thickness of the boards and allowed the material to guide my design decisions. Using Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Water residence as my inspiration, I designed a table that was assembled using hand-chiseled mortise and tenon joinery, biscuit joinery where two boards were joined to create a wider surface, and rabbets. The finishing process included belt and orbital sanding, as well as hand sanding with fine-grit sandpaper, followed by three coats of Antique Oil to protect the wood while showcasing the natural color and lustre of walnut.
