Interactive Visual Resource Library - Design & Dev

The Visual Education Image Library is consists of a database of images, catalogued and indexed to serve as a tool to create online slideshows for educators to use in the classroom, or to output high-res prints of specific images. The site uses museum-quality digital images, and was curated by professional educators with museum experience.

PURPOSE: Teachers were using images to enhance their in-class learning; however, they had no central source of images, often copying them and storing them in their own silted information stacks; this was leading to wasted network storage resources, uneven (and unstandardized) quality, and duplication of effort. The web-based library offered all teachers throughout the institution to share images as desired, and allowed them to curate the content either for their own or shared use. Additionally, a wiki was created to add even greater depth to the knowledge base that  could be shared with other faculty and students.

The video below is a demonstration of the basic functionality and capabilities of the application.
