RBB - Brandenburg Aktuell - Redesign

,
category: TV / On Air Design / Broadcast Design

The basic idea of this redesign was to clear the structure of the image with a certain classification of the informations: striking headlines in the foreground and peripheral information in the background.

We wanted to use a flat design, known from Web UI Design, to achieve a reduction to the essentials. No unnecessary decoration! For a TV news magazine it is important to be content-oriented! So the mainly relevant content is clearly located in the foreground.
To be magazine-like, but even serious enough as a news format, we wanted to bring the images of the content in the focus. What could be more emotional? And besides, information details like places and people are important in this context as well.

To be content-oriented, we used typography itself as kind of navigation. So it was clear that our demand on the design was to orientate on User Interfaces to get a clear formal design language with a strongly reduced coloration. So we wanted to create unambiguous and consistent mechanics of animations in a homogeneous, but even customizable appearance.
As inserts we simply used a blue gradient as an accent. We didn't want any unnecessary panels, digits, effects, etc. known from 90s TV design.
One thing was definitely more important than decoration: to reach our goal of creating a modular On Air Design toolkit which is constantly expandable for our client's needs.
