Donguibogam
Book design project 2008
The Dongui Bogam (동의보감) is a Korean medical book compiled by the royal physician, Heo Jun (1546 – 1615) and was first published in 1613 during the Joseon Dynasty of Korea. The title literally means “Mirror of Eastern Medicine”. The book is regarded important in traditional Korean medicine and one of the classics of Oriental medicine today. As of July 2009, it is on UNESCO’s Memory of the World Programme The original edition of Dongui Bogam is currently preserved by the Korean National Library. ( from wikipedia )

I designed this project as a university student in 2008. To make analog look design, I wrote a calligraphy for cover and also I bound a book with red thread.
This book source from < 뜻으로 쉽게 풀이한 허준 동의보감, 2004, (주)아침나라 >.  New generation, they could feel hard about traditional medical book. So this book made up of easy and useful contents such as good point about green tea, nuts, and so on.  I wish many people know that this kind of good korean culture.
