The first 2 are logo re-designs I did. I wanted Masterlock to have a true, noticable logo that wasn't exactly the brand name i.e the first logo. The second logo uses the idea of a "second look" in the logo, similar to the arrow inside the fedex. This is a lock and key inside the words to create a visual for viewers.
The direction for the masterlock project was, "the ultimate keep out sign". This plays off of masterlock being so tough, that anyone who sees the lock on something knows they will not be able to bypass it. The lock becomes a way of saying, this is valuable to me and is protected from anything. The above billboard plays off of that idea by using the numbers in a combo lock to appear as if the message reads right off the lock to anyone trying to get in.
This would be an out of home style advertisement. A glass box/plastic see-through box with a hinge would be designed. It would be placed in busy public areas with fake or real valuables inside the box. Each box would have different things of value in them and a masterlock on them. The message above would be written closeby. The concept is that the box shoes the contents, revealing a deep trust in the lock. The contentd are shown because they know the lock will keep them safe. It is almost a dare to any thieves to try to break the lock. Many people would stop and ponder on this ad due to its appearance and placement.
As a sort of tangible piece, this mastelock ad serves as a creative do not disturb sign for a door hanger. The thinking behind it is a playful way to appear as if a lock is hanging on any door. DND signs are supposed to keep out anyone from the room, the lock does the same in a sense.
