BPA Digital Media Production 2015 2nd Place Nationals

This video is a promotional piece for the Culmination of the 50th anniversary of The Business Professionals Of America National Conference.

When I found out that the Business Professionals of America National Leadership Conference would be celebrating its 50th Anniversary in Boston, I immediately knew that I wanted the color scheme to be gold, reflecting a traditional Golden Anniversary theme that is universally understood.

I then chose the audio, so the editing pattern and the flow of the video were heavily inspired by the music choice. When I edit video, I like to lay down my audio track first, then edit to the track with the clips of video, rather than the other way around.
Audio helps me to envision what shots work best, and how long they should be up. Editing that way, in my experience, saves having to re-work a project to fit audio, at the end, or even half-way through a project.

The music was chosen through the website OMNImusic, with which the Audio/Video Production class at Francis Tuttle has an account.
The website has royalty free music and jingles available to use in video production.
This song is called “All Night” by Brian Way.

I used stock the footage and photos of Boston landmarks and scenery from the links I was provided in the contest information, www.advantageboston.com, and www.bostonusa.com.

I obtained permission from Cybis Communications to include 25 seconds of footage from previous National BPA conferences, through Ms. Natasha Smith, who served on the National Officer Team as well as worked at Cybis Communications in the past, contacting the group.

Software application “The Juicer 3”, was used as the resource to provide the animated backgrounds and swipes, out of editor toolkit pro, 170 High Impact Tools, Electric Ring.
Final Cut Pro X was used for editing the video.

Sparkle transition: Because I was unable to find a transition that suited the color scheme and feel of the video, either in Final Cut Pro X or The Juicer Program, I created one in Motion 5.
I found a generator I liked, imported an image of a translucent star, tweaked with the parameters and colors until satisfied with the outcome. I exported, then imported into the Final Cut project.

The Business Professionals of America logo was found on Google Images, however the highest resolution did not include the tagline.
In the Graphic Standard rules provided, it states that the tagline should be present whenever possible.
I imported the image of the logo into Adobe Photoshop CC 2014, and followed the Color and Typography guidelines when creating the tagline.

The text was chosen from the website Dafont.
The fonts provided by the website are: demos, shareware, and freeware of the public domain.
The font (“Aardvark Cafe” by Harold Lohner) includes a license that allows free commercial use.

This was incredible experiance and opportunity, and I loved every second of creating the video, explaining my process, and getting to place 2nd at nationals.
(There couldn't have been a better competitor to win first, a classmate, and friend of several years. )
