Storing Kitchen Items the Right Way

If you are not a sculpting artist and have a workshop at home, chances are that the most awkwardly shaped articles will be found in the kitchen. There are round bowls, flat pans with raised rims, semi-spherical colanders with perforations, cups with handles – and let’s not even get started with the different shapes of cups you can have, and the cookware leaves you even more intrigued with their shapes – pressure cookers, Dutch ovens, baking trays, woks, sigh! The list can go on forever.

Well, no one doubts the functionality of these items but when it comes to storage, it becomes a huge headache. The shelves and drawers in the kitchen are (shall we say, more geometrically correct?) comes in sizes of cubes and cuboids. And that’s why it takes some thinking to fit the less symmetrical objects into these clean, straight lines.

We have brought to you some ideas that can help. Take a look.

They are best stored together, nested. Place the mixing bowls near the preparation area and the serving bowls in the cabinets with serving plates.

Measuring Cups:
gain a tool for the preparation work, these should be kept stacked in drawers close to the prep area or hung on adhesive hooks on walls.

You would be surprised to know that there are lots of options for storing mugs. You can choose from a sliding cup rack, adhesive hooks in alcoves under the cabinets, a simple cup stacker, or an under-shelf basket.

Pans:

They are best stored vertically. You can either make use of bake-ware holder or get pan dividers. However, if you have a lot of them, consider stacking and storing in a low, wide drawer. There are a lot of stores where you can easily find different types of pans. Or else, go to Arttdinox online and buy non stick fry pans.

Placemats:
Fold and store in drawers or lay them stacked in the center of the kitchen table.

Napkins:

Keep them right in the center of the kitchen table. If you have decorative ones then you can roll them together and store vertically in a cylindrical, cubical box. Keep the upper end open to easily tease them out when required.

Plates/Dishes:

Well, cabinets are made to store but did you know that cabinet shelves can make more space in existing cabinets. Plus there are expandable and corner shelves to allow more storage in small kitchens.

Knives:

They are the most important kitchen tools and as many chefs will say, “The mark of great chef is sharpness of their knives.” Knives have to be wiped completely dry before storing in the dock, otherwise their life is considerably reduced and the blunt edges can also end up harming you. Magnetic knife strips hung on walls also provide easy visibility and access if you have an array of knives.

So, these were some storage ideas that will reduce clutter and increase peace of mind. As far as storage equipment is concerned, you can easily find them online.
