The Gift - Animated Short Story

As a creative and different type of design project for me to do, I decided to try out animated gifs.

I took my favourite children’s storybook and designed my own animated gifs for each scene of the book. I love illustration and I also have developed a growing interest in moving imagery such as gifs, animation and films, so I wanted to put those interests into practice.

I really enjoyed this project because it allowed me to develop my illustration and gif making skills. I wanted to tell the story in a beautiful and different way that would be more than just a flat set of drawings.

I then put my final set of gifs into a short promotional film for the book itself. I thought this would be a way of showing off the final gifs and also showing how they might be used in a graphic design solution.

Overall this project was one of my most successful and enjoyable. It has made me think about illustration and moving imagery more as something I could look into in the future. The story has a very personal theme and it has a strong emotional connection with me so it was very fun to make.
