Irish Civil Defence Rebrand

I began by looking at reference images of relevant images to Ireland and the Civil Defence, predominantly harps. I then played around with the different shapes that make up the Irish harp such as the strings and the curve of the frame.
Once I had decided on a general idea for the logo design, I tried different variations, incorporating a triangle, which is the universal symbol for the Civil Defence internationally.
My final design is comprised of a mountain and meandering river which doubles as the frame of the harp. Before I moved onto Adobe Illustrator, I drew up a rough sketch of the logo, taking how the elements would work with each other into account.
As part of the rebranding brief, I had to create a corporate suite for the Civil Defence. My inspiration came from military ribbons. After narrowing it down to these three designs, I decided on the first as the portrait designs incorporated an arrow facing down, which could communicate a negative association.
