The Great Empires of the Past series included 12 titles. Although all titles shared the same look and color scheme, each title consisted of its own graphic elements. These element were distinctive to each specific empire.
There were three elements which varied according to the Empire under discussion.
The series consisted of four separate sidebars which all had there own design and design elements.
In addition to the design, I composed one title in the series, Empire of the Incas. I was responsible for all the art direction of the series titles, including reviewing the work of the freelancers through each step of the process, art directing galley layouts, adjusting photographs, created final files for output.
This series was awarded Graphic Design USA’s American Inhouse Design Award 2010 in the Editorial Design category.
