A State-of-the-Art Financial Workplace SOM studied this client’s specific workflow to layout a trading floor calibrated for efficient collaboration. High-performance mechanical systems create the ambient conditions for productivity, while a flexible layout accommodates different numbers of employees. SOM designed trader workstations to function in concert with interior architecture as an integrated system. This trading area is surrounded by support workstations and offices, and a communicating stair provides access to a lower floor containing executive offices, conference rooms, and a boardroom. The client wanted the design to convey the sense of a stable yet agile institution. SOM’s modern solution uses clean lines, natural-hued materials, and an efficient but visually pleasing office layout to present the right business image.
