A Post Card
Journey of Sketches
The nature of this project began with my girlfriend, to whom it is dedicated. Her birthday is coming up, and she refuses to allow me to spend money on gifts, so I told her I would draw for her. I started out with a post card template, being as post cards are something I enjoy, and tested my hand at an antique feel. I then asked her what some of her favorite things were, and if her favorite flower was still an asper. She replied, I like flowers, I think they're pretty, but I'm just not a flower person. So I asked her what I could draw for her, and she asked me to draw some of my favorite things as an exploration of getting to know me better. This is a work in progress, and quite a challenge as I've never done anything like this. Coming up with things I like is a little more challenging that one would imagine. This project is inspired by Fernando Forero here on Behance, and aside from the Pocket Watch, all other post cards are approximately 5000x3000 in original size with DPI of 300. These are digital works done in photoshop, will all original sketches added to the template. Some brushes are courtesy of Obsidian Dawn. The project is still a work in process, with a plan to do about sixteen post cards if I can manage to stay focused and inspired.
The Pocket Watch, this piece was the first in the series, something experimentational until I figured out what I wanted to do, and also something help inspire the results that follow.
The Letter, this piece is still a work in progress, and when finished, will have a hand drawing or writing, two of my personal hobbies.
The Snow Leopard, by far my favorite. It started off with the post card template I've been using, 5000x3000 image, background color and texture, text, postage mark, and then a snow leopard fur brush template. Then I began the leopard itself, a sketch as a separate file and transfered, which I then touched up on with the lining, and finished with a water color effect.
This particular piece, the Sea Horse, is currently still a work in progress, but it has reached a closer proximity to completion than has the Letter. I intend to fill in the sea horse in with color, probably with a water color effect such as the Snow Leopard. I wasn't really sure what I was aiming for as I did this, only that I love sea horses and it's been a very long time since I've drawn one.
