This time I made Rip the Ripper on my own style. The iconic Powell Peralta skull re-designed from sketch as a part of my skull & zombie series "Zombie-Nation".
Again started from pencil sketch and finally digital vector using only a 3 button mouse.
Original pencil sketch. Taking the reference of the original VCJ's Rip the Ripper just to catch the action and keeping some original elements.
Once scanned, I begin to re-draw the lineart in Adobe Illustrator, cleaning my pencil lines, and adding some detail.
Once I work almost the 70% I begin to add some gray flat colors.
When drawing on vector, I always use a second screen to review the original reference and the sketch.
I always have a top layer fot my lineart (as in comic coloring), below are the color and other details.
And finally, the artwork in some texture just for testing. Job done.
Later, my artwork will be on T-Shirts, in a limited edition run.
