American Stock is dedicated to honoring and bringing to life the rich and colorful early history of stock car racing through a series of exciting new products. Some sixty years after NASCAR was founded, American Stock brings the early days of racing to life again, delivering everything from an historical DVD series and must-have memorabilia, to collectibles and reinvented, vintage-inspired apparel. American Stock is committed to today’s most avid, hard-core race fans, and strives to expand its community by inspiring others.
The Challenge:
Flying Machine’s challenge was to evoke feelings of escapism, heroism and power, and bring out the classic hero in all of us. Flying Machine aspired to develop an educating, entertaining and inspiring experience across diverse media.
Logo and Typography
Inspired by the car emblems of the era, Flying Machine created a logo and a logo type which capture American Stock’s brand essence. The wings convey the idea of escapism, heroism and power. The shield, unique typography and metallic finish, all true to the era, create a sense of authenticity and presence.
Packaging
Flying Machine was eager to satisfy American Stock fans’ desire for collectibles, and acknowledged their view of memorabilia as an investment. Inspired by the era’s packaging of movie reels, Flying Machine designed a tin can that contained American Stock’s limited edition DVD, a collectors booklet which captures American Stock’s story in text and visuals, and a limited edition metal dog tag with American Stock’s tagline.
