So for my design I started out relatively simple. I used the ellipse tool to create a circle and fill it in black. I used this for my base, for the rest of the design I used my initials VR. The reason I designed them the way I did was because my grandfather and father both love the hockey team the New Jersey Devils. Which is what the design is based around. So like the NJ Devils logo, the VR and connected in the middle. My company name is Merk Arts so to incorporate it into the design I used the line tool to draw out each letter into the top of the “V.” Everything was drawn out using the line tool for the main aspect of the logo. I went on to coloring the logo, for this I wanted to keep it to two colors. Black was already set for the base, so I decided to offset it with a dark red; or 191% Red, 32% Green, 37% Blue. I chose red because it’s my favorite color, and it always catches your eye.
I wanted a symbol for my logo, mainly because to me it’s easier to remember a symbol then it is to remember a name. So while you may forget the name of my company the symbol will stay with you and be able to be picked out of a crowd. Even for people with color blindness, because of the colors I chose, it stills pops out as a dark green. Lastly to finish off the logo by adding a drop shadow to give a three dimensional aspect and to give it more depth.
I also wanted more of a Text based logo. So I designed this using the pen tool and the text tool.
