Mi occupo solo saltuariamente di stand o ambient design. Ma quando Seat Italia ha chiesto ad un team di colleghi di partecipare ad una gara per la presentazione della nuova Seat Leon X-Perience, non ho potuto tirarmi indietro. Il budget era limitato, e dovevamo creare l'exhibition set per la nuova auto che sarebbe stato presente in 140 concessionari italiani. Abbiamo proposto numerose idee, tutte legate alla doppia anima della Leon X-Perience, urban e offroad. Tra queste, clamorosamente fuori budget, c'era l'idea di un doppio specchio riflettente posizionato lungo l'asse della macchina. L'auto, per metà perfettamente pulita e lucidata e per metà sporca di terra e fango, sarebbe apparsa interamente pulita o sporca a seconda di come la si sarebbe guardata. Come di rado succede in questi casi, Seat Italia ha scelto la proposta più azzardata, rinunciando all'exhibition per i 140 concessionari ma costruendoci attorno un unico evento di presentazione nella sede centrale di Seat Italia.

I rarely deal with exhibition design. But when Seat Italia asked me and a team of colleague to build the set for the presentation of the new Seat Leon X-Perience, I immediately accepted. Budget was low, and the brief was to design a set to be replicated in 140 sellers around Italy. We developed several ideas, all around the concept of the two souls of the car, urban and offroad. Among them, there was the idea of a giant double mirror, along the axis of the car; the vehicle, half clean and half covered in dirt and mud, would reflect the car as a whole when you look at it. As rarely happens with clients, Seat Italia selected this idea, creating a single main event of presentation in Seat Italia headquarters.
