Color Theory and Design

Concentric - Geometric
DCCC: Color & Design Class...To create a three dimensional geometric concentric design that is further enriched by the selection and application of flat color. This project is a culmination of each previous project; however, instead of selecting ready made colors, you will carefully manipulate the properties of color such as hue, value, and chroma using Acrylic paint.
Medium: Acrylic Paint
Year: Spring 2013
Structural Constellation - Vibration
DCCC: Color & Design Class...Based on the drawings
(constellations) of Josef Albers and the color relationship of complimentary hues. Using two complementary hues with equal value, find three or four versions of tints and shades. Focus on tints and shades. Tints may be lighter and or intense, where shades will be a darker value of the same hue. Imagine an implied light source and apply the
appropriate tint or shade to that plane.
Medium: Color Aid Cut Paper
Year: Spring 2013
Gradient - Organic
DCCC: Color & Design Class...Gradient Study using cut paper. Based on research and sketches develop a design (geometric, organic, or representational) applying color gradients. Gradients of hue, value, and intensity. Transition from one hue, value, or intensity to another hue value or intensity. This project is open for interpretation...spend time developing your design (Prof. Jaime Treadwell).
