Course Overview

This was a workshop run by Prof. Fred Deakin, Chair of Interactive Digital Arts at University of Arts London. The workshop took young creatives from all kinds of different creative backgrounds, across three different universities. The aims of the workshop were to get students to collaborate with other creatives over the country and complete a personal project at the end of it all.
Our Project

In our group we wanted to tackle the problem of procrastination and how it's can have a serious effect on the quality of our work. We also thought that the other half of the problem lies in un-inspiring, dull workspaces that could have a big impact on motivating people. We came up with a product that aids people in work environments, helping them achieve their goals and in return receive a treat of their choice. This product took the form of a Totem pole, which had a modular design so that employees had their own module. Each employee could then place their treats in the back of the totem and using software like Basecamp and Slack it could track how much work each employee has done. Once everyone has reached a certain goal the treats are released. We wanted to make the totem as fun as possible, something that would brighten the dull work spaces up. So we made the totem really colouful, we made it so that it was customizable and we also added a surprise at the top of the totem once goals have been released. You’ll have to watch the case study below to see what that surprise is.
Final poster.
Thank you
