Following several thumbnail sketches I decided that a type-treated invitation front would be the best -- keeping the invite formal enough for their contributors but providing a playful feel. There will be coffee and chocolate after all! I searched for typefaces that would be somewhat stereotypical of brews and brownies then the perfect ampersand. Shown here is the front, inside and back of the invitation.
To cut down on cost I only used two colors for the entire design of the invitation. These colors were determined by two factors: One, the brown is similar to the color of brownies and secondly, they match the main sponsor and host for the event, Creme Cupcake. Another aspect that I considered was the dark wood decor at the venue therefore I recommended the wood grain envelopes (below). My client loved the envelopes and the whole project was mailed out within a week of finishing.
