“Folking Canadian - Out Run Cancer”

Canadian tall-tales, campfire stories, and regional folklore’s romanticized reverence for the spirt of the nation, contrasted by society’s modern definition of it. Exploring the foreboding parallels between the stories told and the lessons never learned.

Terry Fox attempted to run across Canada to raise money and awareness for cancer research. Every year the race is completed in his honour by thousands, raising millions in the process. Thank you Terry.
Sketches were all over the place in the begining because I wasnt sure what story I wanted to tell. I knew the topic was Terry Fox, but didnt know what to say. Early ideas looked at portraits, the struggle, landscapes, the fundraising... pretty much everything.
Finially decided to focus on the journey and the support behind the cause. Dropped the scenery and focused on the FoxVan and put it on top of an abstract map.
A couple pics of the screen printing process. Made more than I usually do because I anticipated misprints in some of those details, but everything went fine.
