Herschel Supply Co. was founded in 2009 by brothers Jamie and Lyndon Cormack with the idea of manufacturing some of the finest quality backpacks, bags, travel goods and accessories. With their mission statment in mind, we as a team tried to replicate the timeless style to Herschel products in our photoshoot, but with a modern, hipster-esque approach that was suitable for the youth of today. This is a brand that has rapidly become a household name for urbanites over the past few years, regardless of gender or status. Knowing this, we decid- ed to restrict our key locations to areas that hipsters generally inhabit, most notably Dumbo, Brooklyn.

In our research, we noticed that many of the photos that Herschel uses on their website to showcase thier product are taken in an outdoor, earthy environment. Although we wanted to create a lookbook that was fresh and new to Herschel, we feared that straying too far from their original style would disassociate our project from the brand completely. Therefore, we typically stuck to warm, earthy tones in our photoshoot, through the location, wardrobe, and photo manipulation. Although, we successfully freshened up their lookbook to include scenes of an everyday urban atmosphere, where Herschel has become the most prominent.

We truly enjoyed this project, because it gave us the experience of a professional photo shoot, between our use of equipment, creation of paperwork, and extensive research into both the company and the locations of where we would shoot. We are all overjoyed with the out- come of our lookbook, and we think Herschel will be too.
