Urban Alphabets (currently for iOS and Android platforms) encourages users to re-experience their surroundings by enabling them to utilize their smartphones to upload photographs of individual, cropped letters, which can then be used to write short messages, called Urban Postcards. 
The consequences the Urban Alphabets app has for its users' spatial experiences has been part of my MA thesis at Media Lab Helsinki. Here you see the printed version of the thesis.
