The Amazing Memory Box

Hand built music box constructed as a means to 'store memories safely.'
Box built from ply wood, detailed with wood burner, stained, and lined with red velvet.
Music box plays Close To You by the Carpenters.
Wrap label made of old lace and coffee stained, burned newspaper. Wooden label's design is ink transfered using wood burner.
Label reads: "Store your memories safely, even fragmented thoughts and semi-forgotten dreams.
Box is constructed in remembrance of my grandmother who passed away after fighting with Als Heimers and dementia. Box includes burned and stained images of her, as well as a letter from her diary in which she recorded the memories that she was steadily losing.
