Visual representation should convey the actual look and feel of the city.
The logo is a simplistic representation of O which stands for location. Horizontal stripe represents stability and establishment. The main idea was create an identity which would incorporate 3 main branches of the city: Culture, Technology and Commerce, which are visually and conceptually represented trough 3 “O” in the word Toronto.
SCIENCE
Toronto is a center of Canadian science and technology development. This patter represents science community and all municipal building, which are connected to scientific research and development.
CULTURE
Toronto can be compared to a melting pod where many different nationalities, languages and traditions are mixed together. As well as theatre, music, cinematography and other arts are mostly represented in Toronto.
FINANCE
TSX(Toronto Stock Exchange) and financial district downtown is a place where big decisions are made. This is a part of the community, which can made a real difference internationally. The pattern is made out of colour blocks, which represent bank cells and bank system.
VEHICLE
All the government vehicles should have a City of Toronto logo on it. Although, The City of Toronto works with many companies, which provide service for the city. Those companies tent to have their own identity. The city of Toronto brand mark should not interfere with existing design solutions. The brand mark is flexible enough to support the branding of all the partners.
WAYFINDING
All the signs should be design in a way that the viewer can easily identify his location. Moreover, the signs should reflect the tree main branches of the city which are Financial district, Entertainment District( Culture) and Technology District( University & College Street
