DiaBasic is a diabetic QS app made for the technologically inexperienced user going through advanced stages of diabetes including glaucoma and arthritis. The app is dual layered providing a simple and easily navigated front end while also providing a very deep and function heavy backend called “Medical Mode”. The large font and vibrant color scheme is carefully selected to optimize visual clarity and ease of navigation which is very important for this user base. Different people have different visual acuity so we have implemented an extreme customization menu that allows the user to achieve maximum visual clarity. DiaBasic sets itself apart by working with several 3rd party Bluetooth smart meters as well as its very own official smart meter. The official smart meter offers increased ease of use as well as being extremely economically priced.

Main Menu:
The main menu of DiaBasic offers a direct route to the three main feature sets of the app; sync, health and options. The sync button sends you to our simple sync setup menu where you can register new meters as well as update current meters information. The health button takes you to the health analysis page where you can input meals, exercise and insulin intake. Data can be viewed in the form of info graphics which allow you to interact and select key areas to analyze. The options menu leads you to an extensive selection of customizations from font to color scheme, all in an effort to maximize visual clarity.

Sync Menu:
The Smart Meter Sync menu provides update and sync features for the users smart meter devices. It displays a visualization of the individual meters and gives the option to update or setup a new meter in a few easy steps. The simplest way to sync is by using the official DiaBasic smart meter. The meter comes with a red sync button that interacts directly with the app.

Health at a Glance:
This page provides a visualization of cumulative data. It acts as a hub from where the user can interact with their data and select categories to focus on.  The user may also submit insulin, cholesterol and exercise data manually on this menu. You are introduced to a basic info graphic showing your cumulative data but from there you can navigate to more distilled content like blood glucose, cholesterol and insulin. Users can also input important manual information about food and exercise though the health at a glance page.

BG Analysis:
The analysis page provides a comprehensive report on a specific key item. The cause of the increase or decrease in value is suggested, and you are given actions that may help alleviate the issue if it is negative. Let’s say you see a spike in your blood sugar over the last two weeks. You can select this period of time and get a detailed analysis of this slot of time. It will show you the cause of the change or irregularity; in this case it happens to be the double bacon cheeseburgers and milk shakes you have been eating lately.

Customization Menu:
The customization menu provides a full list of categories where the user can customize and adjust their settings. Here one could adjust font and manipulate color schemes to ease visual clarity. The amount of customizability lends the app the versatility for a more diverse market. Along with aesthetics users can customize functions by using automation.  Users or their caretakers can setup automation for their daily app usage. Basic tasks are regulated including syncing and even exercise entry. This can greatly simplify usage for inexperienced and senile users.

Medical Mode:
With the press of a button, the user can switch to Medical Mode. Here the design scheme drastically changes to offer a heavily information saturated feature set. In medical mode detailed charts and graphs are made readily available to print and show to your medical professional. This adds another level of functionality as well as confidence in our users to use our app as a medical tool. This mode works to provide a professional overview of all your data so you don’t have to navigate around and confuse your doctor. It also allows you to have a simple to use app that doesn’t confine itself to a specific layout. One of the very powerful features of the medical mode is the cumulative chart. This is an info graphic that gives a cumulative overview of all the data collected between doctor visits and gives a side by side comparison.
