Sub-Thesis on the possibiities of long and short term time-offs and their potential of recreation and restoring creativity.
Potentials, requirements and possibilities for the creative industry.
Globalization, digitalization and the dissolution of boundaries between work and private life have led to significant changes of modern lifestyles. Today employees are expected to independently organize their work schedule. As a result time-offs are often neglected or poorly utilized. This often results in high amounts of stress and pressure which then lead to burnouts and many other stress related diseases and malfunctions of the body and mind. While the treatment of these diseases and the partial absence of the workers results in high costs and additional organisation for the employer, supported time-outs and payed sabbaticals can often prevent these problems and even increase efficiency, motivation and skills to only name a few advantages. A Sabbatical is a structured long term break from work, that allows a person to use the given time for recreation, improvement of skills or the realization of a lifelong dream. Especially for people working in creative industries, time-outs are essential to enable creative processes and to regene-rate energy. To point out and to visualize the potentials and types of a time-out, to create a basis for individual decision-making, is the concept behind this work.
