With every new project, personal or commissioned, comes new context, new lighting setup and thus the challenge of predicting the image's outcome. In many of those shoots I had to pose as a dummy for initial tests myself — to my loyal tripod, my assistants or even my models. This allowed me get a better understanding of the frame and made it easier to decide poses for my model. More importantly, this allowed me to feel more confident in my overall setups.

Presented here are selected tests from my studio-light experience over the past 5 years. The progression seen through these outtakes is a curious phenomenon I find myself repeatedly exploring.
