to replace a dilapidated cottage
The old cottage was in a bad way as the structure was breaking up due to movement caused by the lack of foundations and by damp penetration. Planning consent was obtained for a replacement dwelling, it's much larger than the cottage and is a substantial family house. It was designed to be built to level 3 of The Code for Sustainable Homes and has such things as a rainwater harvesting system, ground source heat pump and uprated thermal elements.
