VOYEURISM IN GRAPHIC DESIGNCOLOURS AND EMOTIONS-----------------------------Tokyo Series
The emotional experience is significant in voyeurism. From the analysis of a focus group research session, females do not solely identify with the human body form, but also at emotions. Voyeurism is not solely driven by the visual aspects of graphics, but also formed by the emotions incited upon gazing at graphics. This investigation intends to focus on using emotions to form the object of the female gaze, and to investigate the significance of emotions in bringing forth the voyeuristic experience. This series of photographs intends to experiment with colours, as a connotation of emotions, to enhance the viewers’ emotional experiences upon gazing at the images, as well as to communicate the photograph’s emotional content. To investigate the voyeuristic nature of spaces, this series of photographs are based on locations and emotions, in a specific locations, Tokyo. Significant locations in the city are selected. Each location has specific emotions pertaining to the spaces and its uses. With a focus on locations and emotions pertaining to the spaces, the photographs are designed and linked in a visual narrative, which is based on the emotions of the various locations. Using black and white photographs as a base in which colours are applied, this series of photographs intend to bring forth voyeurism, and enhance visual emotional experience.
