Work for an exhibition as part of an MA in illustration at Kingston University.

'The Hero', 'The Pirate' and 'The Prince' are three works loosely inspired by the 19th century con-artist and imposter Gregor MacGregor. Born in Scotland in 1786, MacGregor masterminded one of the most audacious frauds in history by posing as the Prince of Poyais; a fictional Central American country all of his own creation. MacGregor persuaded thousands of people to invest in this imaginary land and even convinced many of them to travel there.

These images were made for an MA showcase exhibition which took place at the Hoxton Gallery in September 2014. The illustrations themselves are part of an ongoing body of work which explores MacGregor's extraordinary exploits through visual storytelling.
