“Art is never new.” — Alphonse Mucha, Father of Art Nouveau.
In this project we were randomly assigned figures from the history of art and asked to conduct both a psychoanalysis and a design style study. Later on, our findings were translated into the artist’s initials. Alphonse Mucha is one of my favourite figures in history because of his loyalty to manual design strategies;
he draws, and so, I drew his mark, staying loyal to his thesis. Looking at his art work, I constructed a design brief. I noticed that all of his models have dramatic poses, enhancing their curvature. I noticed that all of them are outlined (a thick black line traces his subjects).
