The Puma Customization Engine website was my final project as a student of Digital Media Production at the London College of Communication. The reasoning behind my design and execution of this project was the desire to improve the existing online customization service offered by Puma at www.pumamongolianshoe.com in 2008.
The intended improvement of my project was to offer customers the option of previewing the changes made online to their customized product (primarily shoes) through the use of real 3D models. In the early part of 2008 all websites offering a customization service were only able to offer a preview of the customization process using photographs.
My product improvement was to offer a website where clients could preview the actual changes made to their customized shoes through the use of real time 3D models. My design also delivered improvements to the usability of the website in that it offered a much clearer interface design, resulting in a more user-friendly platform and an easier customization process for customers.
