White Wolf Art 1995-1999

Illustration Work (1994-1999)
Artwork by Mike Chaney. Brush and India Ink on Bristol Board.
Unpublished. Originally done for White Wolf Magazine's final issue.

This was a two page spread sized illustration for the opening of an article in White Wolf Magazine's final issue. The illustration was for the final installment in a series of articles about hunting supernatural entities. This particular installment was an adventure set during the 1800s in Eastern Europe.

This piece was for an anthology published by Harper Prism books. I actually still have the original pencils as I had to ink over a xerox copy.

Published in Rage: War of the Amazon (1995)

This is actually from my third foray into the world of CCGs. However, this set is special because I tried to do a major artistic departure from my previous pieces. This is also the first appearance of Mr Sniffles in the Rage CCG and he pops up several times over the next year.. While I'm still pleased with the piece, I really want to go back and just fix all the stuff I see wrong with it now.

Published in Rage: War of the Amazon 1995.

The first piece I did for War of the Amazon. I worked at about 600% larger than the final for these pieces, so a lot of my inking mistakes weren't as obvious on final product. Still, the rims on that guys goggles still drive me nuts.
Artwork by Mike Chaney (thanks to Matt Milberger for cleaning up my panel frames). Brush and India Ink on Bristol Board.
Published in World of Darkness Combat (1996).

This was one of the "comic" pieces from WoD Combat. I had one slight disadvantage on this piece. The other artists got "scripts" for these kind of pieces with instructions for each stage of the illo. I on the other hand had to pull my script out of my rear end the night before it was due. Still, I'm pretty happy with the end result. Next time though, I'm not going to hand draw the skull pattern background in the final frame.

Another cover for a Harper Prism novel. I did five of these covers over two years and this one is my absolute favorite even though it proved I couldn't draw tech to save my life. This is another piece I'd like to revisit one day.

Published in World of Darkness: Midnight Circus (1996)

This piece is part 1 of a two page spread spanning vignette. The story behind it is the character pictured above is trying to escape from the clutches of the Midnight Circus. The character is based on a comic character I created in 1994 (which still hasn't seen the light of day)

Part 2 of the two page spread vignette. Here you see the "bad buys" hunting the character in the first panel. The three characters are NPCs from the book....I just can't remember there names anymore.

A werewolf stabbing an evil clown. I had thought about using the clown from the vignette....but then I decided I wanted to draw another clown with an eye patch. This piece is still my favorite piece I have ever done.

Published in Bastet (1996).

Another one of my favorite pieces. This piece was done on a piece of 11x14 bristol and took up most of it. Unfortunately it got shrunk down to about 4 inches tall. A travesty to say the least.

I hope to one day revisit this piece...maybe clean up some of the tick marks and do a little more work on the mp5.
