This photograph demonstrates low-key lighting where everything is black except the subject. I accomplished this by having a solid black backdrop with only one light illuminating my subject.

Advertisement Replication Assignment

 

This image was a replication of a magazine advertisement for jewelry. I used three lights to accomplish this effect. My main light is set up at camera right, mid-shoulder height to illuminate my subject. The other two are fill lights; one placed at camera right and one straight on to illuminate the jewelry.  This lighting setup gave my image a soft, low-contrast, and well-lit image, which duplicated the original ad.

Trash the Dress Series

Summer 2014

 

This was a series done for a client’s 10-year wedding anniversary. She wanted to be photographed in her wedding dress at interesting locations. We decided that the contrast of the beautiful dress with the grungy and undesirable location of the Fort Monroe Battery buildings would bring a lot of interest and excitement to the shots. We also decided that the beauty of the beach and her dress being soaked by the waves would be a romantic vision for her and her husband to share. I used certain edits and mattes to give the images a grungy and/or dreamy feeling, which I believe comes across in this series.
