This page shows overall progress and concept of the project
Concept

I picked orange (Sunkist Navel Orange) as the fruit for packaging project because of its quiet proportional shape (round) that might be easier to be design packaged. The concept is about making fruit as an object to be given to others. A unique and proper way to show some love through simple thing. People could put their messages for others on the product itself. For example, they could write "live healthier!", "Get well soon :)", "Happy thanksgiving", or even just "Have a nice day". The target market is youth to young adult, both genders. Through this, it could also be used as a tool to bring good habits especially for youth people to buy more fruits and to give more to others.

The brand name is O-Wish! O is for Orange while Wish is for the wish that people give to others (in this case, the message that will be put on the product). As giving messages to others is part of the basic concept, I put quotation marks to symbolise it on the brand logo. It also used yellow orange colour as the product is about orange fruit.

The structure of this, is a box with 3 big holes for people to see the fruit condition. For the packaging design, I made the box looks like a cloth with bright colours (blue and pink). The purpose is to catch people attentions through the colours, while the cloth illustration could symbolise the people who give the product and the receiver. The cloth style also put in consideration for the target market. It looks proper and nice but also casual to fit many events.

    Process

First, I researched about fruit packaging and sketched out some ideas for several fruits. Then, I decided the fruit and its brand name. Next, I sketched out brand logos and the teacher chose two logos to be considered. After that, I tried the structure mockup. After I bought the real fruit, unfortunately the mockup structure was too small. Then, I developed the graphic look of the packaging on the laptop. After several consultations the design approved. Next, I made the real mockup but the size was too big. So I made another structure mockup again and it fits the oranges. After that, I finalised the graphic look and sizes on the laptop.

    Obstacles

Determine the size, thickness, and material of the box to hold a sunkist, and also how to make a hole properly if the box is thick.
