Tzonoti está inspirado en un cenote, que son pozos de agua dulce creados por la erosión de la piedra caliza, suave y porosa que contienen estalactitas que son un tipo de espeleotema que cuelgan del techo, los cenotes se formaron durante las épocas, en que bajó el nivel del mar durante los pulsos glaciares del Pleistoceno, pero para el mundo maya eran fuentes de vida que proporcionaban el líquido vital y también eran lugares sagrados. Allí solían realizar sacrificios y rituales que se enmarcaban en su cosmología. Existen tres tipos de cenotes, los de cielo abierto, semiabierto y subterráneos, en esta ocasión el que se representa es del tipo semiabierto. Se eligió este tema porque para Yucatán son uno de los principales atractivos que suelen atraer al turismo por su aspecto e historia. El nombre del muñeco personalizado es Tzonoti que fue tomado de la pronunciación de la palabra maya ts'ono'ot (tzonot) que significa caverna con agua.
