"Six by Six" was an exhibition organized by Swim Team, a student-run curatorial group at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design.

 

The conception of Six by Six sprouted from having a semi-industrial, vacant space to exhibit work in. This ultimately lead the curator to figure out how to exhibit a variety of work in a space without walls. In the exhibition, six artists and six designers have come together in collaborative pairs to create six free-standing display structures. The goal is that through the collaborative relationships, a product will be created that both individuals equally contributed to. Each pair exhibits new challenges and as a whole, the exhibition offers a broad range of practices. From painting and drawing to industrial design and architecture to video and performance, each structure will offers a different set of traits and motives for the project.
