Competition Entry for USGBC Summer 2011
The design is the result of three drivers: an energy efficient design,cost efficiency, and a desire to produce an inclination to encounterthe elements. The home’s internal organization and externalorientation aim to take advantage of seasonal sun angles and winddirection. It does not aim to blur the lines between interior orexterior, but to make one compliment the other. Cost efficiency isachieved through space efficiency and low cost-materials tocompensate for more expressive design maneuvers. These designmaneuvers need to encourage a desire to interact with nature.
