Guest on the Voice!
Project 1: Unusual situation
Software: Photoshop CC
Review: I really enjoyed this project! I decided to use the Voice caste as my unusual situation. In completing this project I was able to review my skills in regards to cutting images out and then placing them in another image where I have to do some tonal matching. I did use some adjustment layers but would love to know more about how to match the light tones of the two images.
Fruity Owl!
Project 2: Fruit Face
Software: Photoshop CC
Review: One of my favorite parts about taking this course was the connection to some history. In this lesson I learned about Giuseppe Arcimboldo, an Italian painter known for creating images (mainly portrait heads) out of fruit, vegetables, flowers, fish and books. This is an important concept that I will try to incorporate into my classroom because it gives the work more meaning. Anyway, I enjoyed the project and decided to take photos of the pineapple and bananas I had sitting on my kitchen table. It was time consuming to remove the fruit from its original background (especially the pineapple). I combined all the fruit pieces with a few images I found using Creative Commons. I just love the idea of Creative Commons and will definitley stress this concept to my students in their own projects. I added a few fileters and changed the blending modes of some of my layers. I was going for a canvas texture look.

No way this happened!
Project 2: Anachronism
Software: Photoshop CC
Review: This was probably my least favorite project in regards to Photoshop work. I love the idea and concept and again it ties in some outside learning. I felt as if I spent way too much time trying to find the right images to use and manipulate in the photograph. All images were found using Creative Commons.
Does it look like I care?
Project 3: Meme
Software: Photoshop CC
Review: I see these all the time but had no clue they were called Memes. So now that I know what they are called I feel a bit smarter! Lol! My image was inspired by several things:
1. I love basketball,
2. I am a Duke fan,
3. I was watching ESPN's 303 for 30 on "I Hate Christian Laettner" the morning I started this project
4. My learned concept of creating a pattern and then applying the polar coordinates filter. I learned this through the AGP live class from Coach K!

Christian Laettner was a Duke basketball player back in the 90's. Long story short, everyone hates him for no reason and so therefore I depicted him as not caring.
Long exposure! Light painting!
Project 4: Light Painting
Software: Photoshop CC, Nikon camera
Review: I really liked this concept and the hardest part was understanding and adjusting the camera settings. I tried using my cell phone but it didn't work that well so I opted to use our school's nice camera. My mom helped me on this one. I took the photos and she used the light to spell my name. After exporting the images into Photoshop I composited the best ones into one image. I used color adjustment layers get the different colors and then I blended in a picture of some stone to add the texture. I am really looking forward to doing this in the classroom.
Unknown World!
Project 5: Layer Tennis
Software: Photoshop CC
Review: My students will really love this game!! Anything to disquise learning works in the classroom! I thought this was going to be really hard but in a matter of minutes I landed my idea. The image I had to work with was the one you see as the background for Super Mario Bros. I loved this game as a kid and it just hit me to replace the blue sky with this mural look. My work flow required selecting the blue background from the original Mario picture and replacing it with the mural image that you currently see. I used the clipping mask feature between the mural image and the blue sky to replace the selection of the sky.

Project 6: PSD Animation
Software: Photoshop CC
Review: I have done animation before in PS but I did learn some new features in the CC version that I didn't quite understand before. For example, I learned about onion skins and how having it turned on can help you keep track of the progression of your animation. Animation can be very time consuming, which is why I kept it really simple. I used paint splashes that grew and shrank with every frame. Pretty simple. As an improvement I might go in and see if I could smooth out the transitions as it seems to be a bit jerky. Enjoy!
