Wonder Chamber no 1 ( a short film)

WONDER CHAMBER no 1 is the first in a series inspired by the Renaissance experiments in art and science, and its shadow boxing of small objects, be them insects, body parts or the study of a pearl earring...

This Wonder Chamber was created after a stay in Japan, and speaks to the two worlds I live in - from my work and my life philosophy based in Japan, and my life & love in the Native American communities of New Mexico.

At a private screening in Japan late 2010, one of the guests, an American painter, remarked, after viewing Wonder Chamber no 1 : 'Your films are like a prayer'.

This piece opened the film showcase 'Simply Screen : In Betweeners of Asia' which premiered at the Tanzfabric art center in Berlin, Germany, and then went on to the Bhavan Theater in London, UK. Its American debut was made at the Sun Valley Spiritual Film Festival in fall 2009. It then went on to be presented at the Byron Bay Film Festival in Australia, early 2010.

Cinematography & editing by me :)

This film includes footage from the Nipponzan Myohoji peace pagoda in Narita, various temples, downtown Tokyo, with cameos of textile artist Eri Imamura as well as samples from 'Wounded Knee Journey' (with Shock B of Culture Shock Camp).

The soundscapes were created by ffortissimo studios (Quebec, Canada) and yours truly did the voice work, beats and sound mix.
