The Rain Fountain - Residential Water Harvesting Tank

Every year, billions of gallons of rain water fall to the Earth. While many have realized the true value of rain water and have begun to collect it, others shy away from the idea due to the unappealing design of current rain collection systems. That is where The Rain Fountain comes in to place. Designed to fit in with the architecture of any home, The Rain Fountain is a 55 gallon rain collection system that doubles as a water fountain to add an extra visual element to the home garden.

In Depth Design Process

A systems layout was created first to analyze and identify the benefits, shareholders, manufacturing processes, problems, and solutions of collecting rain water.
A mind map was constructed to further research the details discovered above in the systems design layout. Certain catergories of research such as the postives, negatives, and stakeholders surrounding rain water collection were critical in moving forward through the design process.
Benchmarking was conducted on current known rain collection products to determine where in the market The Rain Fountain would fit. Based on the design, capacity, and the pricing from the above products, as well as 20 other products researched, it was determined that a water collection system priced around $350 with a 50-100 gallon tank and a simple design that blends with the exterior of a home would be ideal within this market.
