Satyr (2015)
Giclee print, 59cm by 84cm

From the Mythology series.

Far from the jolly faun of Narnia, the satyrs in classical mythology were wild, dangerous creatures. Wearing outwardly the animal within, they danced, drank and rutted in the firelit woods, following their god, Dionysus. The mysteries of their faith involved experiencing the divine amidst the kind of mess we'd now find at 4am in a sex club. Through drums, drugs and bodily excess, the worshippers of Dionysus found ecstacy. The rush, the push, the pain, the suspension of shame. Wide eyes, locked horns slippery with sweat.
