Foundation Work: Drawing I

Nydia
For this piece, our class was visiting the University of MIchigan Museum of Art. I chose to draw a sculpture of a blind girl escaping Pompeii, and focused on rendering her garments and the shadows I saw on the marble to really provide a sense of depth to the image.
Fish
Another museum visit took us to the Ruthven Museum of Natural History, where I chose a stuffed fish for my subject. Working in black, white. and sanguine conte on toned gray paper, I used shading to render and build up the shape I was working to capture.
