Restoration of a Torlonia's Farmhouse, Rome

For this exam I worked together with 2 other people.
We had to find a building to restore, make a metric survey, analyze the degradation and design a restoration project to give the object a new life and new functions.
We found this Farmhouse that belonged to the noble family of Torlonia, but now it's owned by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities of Rome.
The building is in the Appia Antica Park, next to ancient Roman Aqueducts and next to the ancient mansion (II Century AD) of Settimio Severo.
The spot is not well known and used by the people, because it has not equipments and rest areas.
Our idea was to restore this disused farmhouse by giving it the new functions of Restaurant and Hotel.
We didn't want to change much the exterior appearance, because this kind of farmhouse and the landascape around have a quite characteristic aspect of Rome's country.
This is the reason why we mainly focused on the interior disposition of rooms and restaurant, with all their equipments.
For the exterior, we enlarged the terrace of the farmhouse for a better use of the upper lounge bar, by keeping almost identical it's facades. For this terrace, we designed a wooden roofing with a tangled roots aspect, that could be covered by plants and flowers to give a natural visual effect.
