Nemanja Milojkovic's profile

Portfolio Project No 3 / Cyclists Pavilion Competition

Main concept that led me through a design of a pavillion is considering various perspectives that location is providing. At this moment, when a cyclist wants to rest, or use many services pavillion is providing, he is also in need of a good view, above the street level. One must be partially isolated from all the action that is happening on the streets at the time. Also, he needs fine and short approach to the object provided, in this case, by a short ramp. Future pavillion needs to be easily observed from the street level and its striking façade elements must stay close to all the passers.
Form of the pavilion generally is indicated by the desire to give cyclists extra view from a roof terrace that is provided both above the café and the bike service area. It can be easily approached by a third container that is positioned above two containers on the ground level. Additional steel construction elements partially carry the container above the ground level.
Extremely contrasted color scheme of the exterior and interior surfaces makes the object look like a sanctuary to all the cyclists. Rough black exterior color stands in high contrast with the white smooth surfaces of the interior that leads cyclists inside.
Positioned above the street level this pavillion tends to be analogy to medieval fortresses of Europe. Pavillion provides its users peace and distance from all the noise on the streets.
Whole facade, divided in two parts, made of Q-biss One BTM sheets is coated in pattern composed of multiple gears.
Interior of the pavillion stands in high contrast with its exterior. White plastic boards of the walls along with milky glass over cylinder lighting tubes of the ceiling make interior appear much more minimalistic. Floors, as well as stairs, are finished in patterned rubber and glass surfaces are coated in yellow making interior appear much warmer than exterior.
