El 2 de Mayo del 2008 el Volcán Chaitén hizo erupción, dejando la ciudad de Chaitén totalmente cubierta por una gigantesca nube de cenizas. La ciudad debió ser completamente evacuada, dejando así a Chaitén como un pueblo fantasma sepultado en ceniza volcánica. Actualmente, han regresado algunos de los antiguos habitantes pero aún se pueden observar vestigios de lo que el Volcán Chaitén puede hacer.
On May 2, 2008 the Chaitén Volcano erupted, leaving the city of Chaitén completely covered by a giant cloud of ash. The city had to be completely evacuated, leaving Chaitén like a ghost town buried in volcanic ash. Currently, they have returned some of the ancient inhabitants but you can still see remnants of what the Chaitén Volcano can do.
