One Week charette for our Design X: Design-Build Studio Project.
Project Description:
Designed for the Guancaste National Park, the Costa Rica Observation Point acts as a shelter for monitoring the natural landscape and as a point of interest for those visiting the park.
The design uses a series of trusses which define a curved roof and walls that act as a metaphor to the terrain inside the park. The trusses above the occupants act to create an “architectural canopy” as a connection to the tree-tops, scattered with branches, that cover the hiking paths while a series of straight columns frames the views leaving them unobstructed.
