Scanography 2011

Scanography
Explorations in texture, darkness, and depth-of-field.
What started out as an inspired exercise in creativity soon turned into an all-encompassing-scour-for-random-objects adventure. Scanning objects with an open flatbed scanner can yield some very interesting results. I really like the "finite" depth of field look that scanning produces in addition to the ultra-realistic shadow depths, and even lighting. Most of these images have not been vastly color enhanced from their original state. Minor noise/dust touch-up and color-correction work was performed manually per image to achieve high-quality 16x20 prints on a Canon 8100 wide-format printer. All "collage" work on the objects was done directly on the glass before the scanning process. I hope you enjoy the results as much as I enjoyed creating them.
